BRIEF HISTORY oF

PENSA - UCC

In  October 1987/88 Academic year, nine students from the Church of Pentecost  entered University of Cape Coast to pursue Bachelor’s Degree in various disciplines. After their orientation they started worshipping at PENTECOSTAL FELLOWSHIP (PENTEFEL) at the Old Site in one of the Faculty of Education Lecture Theatre.  Incidentally, the entire students

who were admitted  in 1987/88 academic year started the Semester System at UCC. They were the pioneers of the Semester System. They therefore ran different academic calendar from the continuous students that were met on Campus. In November 1987, at one of the Sunday Service at PENTEFEL unknown to each other Brothers Joseph  C.  Amanquanor and Emmanuel Kwesi Acquah had sent separate messages to the Secretary of PENTEFEL to announce that all Church of Pentecost Students were to meet after the Service. That was when they got to know themselves as members from the Church of Pentecost.

One Sunday  evening in  December 1987 , they had their first meeting at the University Primary School at the Old Site to plan for the establishment of PENSA-UCC. At that meeting only seven members of the first year group were present. Other Church of Pentecost members who were part of PENTEFEL decided to stay with PENTEFL, Accordingly, it was only the then first years who decided to start PENSA UCC.

After praying for about 45 minutes they sat down and deliberated on how  PENSA could be formed on UCC campus. The group started with the appointment of the Interim Executive Committee members All the  seven members present were thus assigned positions with responsibilities to enable them form Seven- member  Interim Executive Committee as follows:
